5 skillet, made only in 1907, and with very low production.
This excellent book covers all known Griswold muffin and muffin type pans, including all variations, known at the time of publication. Done by a publisher that knew nothing about the subject, the book seems to have been rushed to print without proper proof reading. Reprint by unknown person but recently available in limited numbers from an e Bay seller. High quality reproduction on glossy paper with excellent print and photo quality.
I had a lot to do with providing photos and information on this book but was disappointed by the outcome. Recently available and may still be from David Smith or Larry Fox. 8-1/2 by 11, 80 pages, spiral bound, good quality reproduction.
One trait that happens when a foundry uses an authentic item to make a reproduction is what collectors call “shrinkage.” A new skillet mold made from an original skillet as a pattern will shrink a bit in the process. After a while, an expert learns the heft and style, almost at a glance. 5 side by side with an original, you’ll see the fake is slightly smaller but heavier.
Reproductions abound when people collect anything of rarity and value.
